Some Things You Can’t Unsee: Convergence
7 November 2008 | 1:26 PM
In today’s hectic work-a-day world, we’re always looking for ways to simplify things, or at the very least put all of our complex things in one place. Think about how smart-phones are all the rage these days: your phone, email, calendar and pretty much everything else, all in your shirt pocket. I mention this not as a boring primer on advances in telecommunications, but rather as introduction to an industry buzz-word: convergence. Still too nerdy for you? Well, forget about cell phones and SMS messages, then, and instead feast your eyes on this performance, which combines erotic interpretive dance, rapping and a New York public access television dedicated to plus-size women into one, truly awesome package. Oh, and there’s hilarious costumes, too:
See? It’s like eHarmony, Rap City and BBW dating, all mixed together. Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to stab myself in the eyes (and ears!) repeatedly with an ice pick.
