Mashups are all well and good – heaven knows I love ‘em just as much (or more!) than the next guy – but it seems to me that some cultural contexts are best left forever separated. Case in point, this faux clip of the Beatles performing Zepplin’s “Stairway To Heaven” on the Ed Sullivan Show. After all, casting the straight-laced fathers of popular music to perform a (albeit iconic) song by the guys who once tried to cross-breed a red-haired groupie with a fish seems a little sacrilegious, non? I’m not saying, but I’m just saying.
