Goes Well With Brie…

Let’s face it: we’re all a little too self-absorbed with our own petty problems to give a proper damn about the plight of people who are legitimately having a rough go of things. In particular, those of us who’ve embraced all of the wonderfully superfluous media and technology that our culture seems to expel out of its every orifice are apt to look at our lots and feel a bit beleaguered by the hassle of it all. But how can we, in good conscience, bitch and moan about such things (say, for instance, how few megapixels our new digital camera has or how slow the wireless internet is at our favorite coffee shop) when we know that there are teeming millions out there, direly in need of the Sally Struthers treatment? Why, in this day and age, it’s easy: we can just post our bitching and moaning anonymously via the interwebs.
I’d rave about the ingenuity of this idea, but I have already come up with a pressing list of annoyances about it, things that are so tedious they just make me want to die.
